How to use snippets
A snippet maps something short you say to something long Walkie types. Say the trigger during a dictation and Walkie inserts the full text — an email sign-off, a mailing address, a standard reply, a block of boilerplate. Snippets are configured in Settings → Vocabulary → Snippets.
Create a snippet
- Open Settings → Vocabulary → Snippets.
- Click Add and set the trigger — the short phrase you will say.Pick something you would not say by accident in ordinary speech.
- Set the expansion — the full text Walkie should type instead.
- Save. Say the trigger in any dictation and the expansion is inserted.
What snippets are good for
- Email sign-offs and signatures
- Your address, phone number, or booking link
- Standard replies you send often
- Legal or compliance boilerplate that has to be worded exactly
- Long identifiers — a repository URL, an account number

Frequently asked questions about how to use snippets
Do snippets work in On-Device Mode?
Yes. Expansion happens on your machine after transcription, so both modes support it.
Can a snippet contain line breaks?
Yes. Multi-line expansions are inserted with their formatting intact, which is what makes them work for signatures.
What if I say a trigger by accident?
It expands. If that happens more than once, change the trigger to something longer and less natural.
