How to create your own transform
Open Transforms in Walkie's sidebar and click Create your own. Give the transform a name and write the instruction Walkie should follow, like “Translate the text into French” or “Make it a bulleted list”. Your transforms take the shortcuts after the two built-in ones, in the order you made them, so your first one runs on Option-3 on a Mac (Alt-3 on Windows, Ctrl-Alt-3 on Linux).
Create a transform
- Open Walkie and click Transforms in the sidebar.
- Click Create your own.
- Type a Name, for example “Translate to French”.Up to 40 characters. It is how the transform appears in the list.
- Write the Instruction: what Walkie should do to the text you select.Up to 2,000 characters. Walkie applies it to your selection and pastes the result in its place.
- Click Add transform. If one of the five shortcuts is still free, the new transform gets it straight away.
Good instructions
| Name | Instruction |
|---|---|
| Translate to French | Translate the text into French. Keep names, numbers and links as they are. |
| Bullet points | Make it a bulleted list. Keep every point. |
| Friendlier | Make the tone warmer and more casual without changing what it says. |
| Shorter | Cut it to half the length. Keep the main point and any dates. |
Which shortcut runs which transform
The list on the Transforms page is the shortcut order. Polish is always 1 and Prompt Engineer is always 2. Your own transforms follow, oldest first.
- Only the first five transforms in the list have a shortcut. You can make more, but the sixth and later have none.
- Deleting a transform moves its shortcut to the next one in the list.
- To change the keys themselves, go to Settings → Shortcuts.
Frequently asked questions about how to create your own transform
Can I edit a transform after I make it?
Yes. Click Edit next to it on the Transforms page, change the name or instruction, and click Save.
Can I change what Polish or Prompt Engineer do?
No, the two built-in transforms are fixed. Create your own with the instruction you want instead.
Do my own transforms work in On-Device Mode?
Yes. In On-Device Mode your instruction runs on your computer with Walkie's on-device intelligence, like the built-in transforms.
