How to record a meeting
Open the Meetings section and press Record. Walkie captures both your microphone and the other participants' audio from your computer, transcribes it live with speaker labels, and writes notes and action items when you stop. Meetings is macOS-only today, and it records whatever call software you use — there is no bot that joins the meeting.
Walkie records your computer, not your calendar
Walkie does not send a bot into your call and does not need calendar access to work. It records the audio your Mac is playing and the audio your microphone is hearing, which means it works with any call software — Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack huddles, FaceTime, or a phone on speaker.
Start a recording
- Open the Meetings section in Walkie.It is in the sidebar of the main window.
- Press Record.The first time, macOS asks for permission to capture system audio. Grant it — without it you record only your own voice.
- Hold your meeting as normal.The transcript builds live, with each speaker on their own line.
- Press Stop when the meeting ends.Walkie then writes the summary, notes, and action items. This takes a few moments for a long meeting.
What you get afterwards
- A transcript with speaker labels, showing who said what
- A summary of what the meeting covered
- Action items pulled out as a list
- Chat — ask questions about this meeting, or across all of them
Everything is searchable from the Meetings list, and past meetings stay available rather than ageing out of a retention window.
Speaker labels
Walkie separates speakers by voice and labels them as distinct people. It can tell speakers apart reliably; putting the right name to each one is a separate step, and you can rename any speaker in the transcript. Renaming applies to every line from that speaker at once.

Frequently asked questions about how to record a meeting
Is Meetings available on Windows?
Not yet. Meetings is macOS-only today. Dictation and Read Aloud work on Windows and Linux.
Does a bot join my call?
No. Walkie records the audio on your own machine, so nothing appears in the participant list. This also means it works with call software that does not allow bots.
What counts as one meeting?
One recording, however long. An all-day workshop is one meeting against your meeting count, which is why there is also an hours cap.
Can I record a phone call?
Only if the call audio is playing through your Mac — for example a phone on speaker next to the microphone, or a call taken through a desktop app. Walkie cannot reach into your phone's call audio.
