Walkie starts the agent you installed, as you, on your machine. Whatever it can see is whatever you have already given it — we do not proxy it, store its answers, or need an account with the model behind it.

- Which agents does Ask Agent work with?
- Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Grok, OpenCode, Hermes and OpenClaw, plus any other command that takes a prompt and prints an answer. Walkie finds them wherever they are installed — Homebrew, nvm, fnm, Volta, bun or npm — by asking your login shell where it looks.
- Do I need a separate subscription for Ask Agent?
- No. Walkie runs the agent already installed on your computer, signed in as you. Whatever you pay for that agent is what it costs; Walkie does not resell a model or proxy your question through one.
- Does the answer come back out loud?
- Yes. The agent runs quietly in the background with no window, and Walkie reads its reply aloud. You can also set it to open the agent's own window instead, with your words already in it.
- Can I ask a follow-up?
- Yes. The conversation stays open, so “shorter” or “no, the other one” continues the same thread rather than starting a new one. When the agent finishes on a question, its choices appear as buttons you can click instead of dictating an answer.
- What does “Hey Walkie” do?
- It hands off a dictation you have already started. Begin a sentence with “Hey Walkie” while dictating and the rest of that sentence goes to your agent instead of into the page. Walkie only listens while you are holding a key — it is never waiting for its name.
- Does my question leave my computer?
- Your speech becomes text first, using whichever transcription mode you have chosen — On-Device Mode never sends the audio anywhere. The text then goes to the agent on your machine, which talks to whatever service it is already configured to use. Walkie does not store the question or the answer on a server.
