# How to transfer or leave a Walkie team

> Hand a Walkie Team workspace to a teammate and choose how it stays paid for, and what happens to shared meetings when someone leaves, is removed, or deletes their account.

The team owner opens the ⋯ menu on their own row in Settings → Team admin, chooses Transfer ownership, picks a teammate and chooses how the team stays paid for: the teammate adds their own card, or takes over the owner's card and billing. The teammate accepts in Settings → Team admin, and the previous owner stays on the team as an admin. When someone leaves a team or is removed, the meetings they shared with it stay with the team, and everything else in their account stays theirs.

## Hand the team to a teammate

1. Open **Settings → Team admin** in Walkie.
2. Open the **⋯** menu on your own row and choose **Transfer ownership**.
3. Choose a teammate.
It has to be someone active on the team who has signed in to Walkie. Someone you invited who has not signed in yet cannot take it over.
4. Choose how the team stays paid for, then click **Send request**.
The two choices are explained below.
5. Your teammate accepts in **Settings → Team admin**.
They can decline instead. While the request waits, you can withdraw it with **Cancel request**.

> **Note:** Either way, you stay on the team as an admin. Your Team plan has to be active to hand the team over, and an account can own only one team, so someone who already owns a team cannot take on yours.

## How the team stays paid for

| | They add their own card | Hand over my card and billing |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **When they accept** | Walkie opens a secure payment page for the same Team plan and seats. The team is theirs once they finish. | The team and its billing account move to them at once. |
| **Charges** | Nothing is charged until your plan renews, and your plan stops renewing then. | Billing carries on as it is: the card on file, invoices and receipts. They can switch to their own card or cancel. |
| **If they already pay for Pro or Work on that account** | That plan ends when Team billing starts, and the unused time is credited. | They need to cancel it first, or you can let them add their own card instead. |
| **Seats** | Their payment covers the seats the team needs. | The team's plan must already pay for enough seats. If it does not, add a seat before they accept. |

## One Walkie account, one plan

A Walkie account holds one plan. Taking over a team on an account that already pays for Pro or Work replaces that plan, as the table shows. If you want to keep paying for a personal plan of your own, keep it on a separate personal Walkie account.

## Leaving a team, or being removed

To leave, choose **Leave team** in Settings → Team admin. The owner and admins remove people from the **⋯** menu on their row. Either way, the same thing happens to that person's meetings:

| | What happens |
| --- | --- |
| **Meetings they shared with the team** — directly, or through a folder they shared with it | Stay with the team, and are removed from their Walkie account |
| **Everything else in their account** | Stays theirs |
| **Copies already on their computer** | Stay on their computer |

## Meetings from former teammates

For the team, those meetings appear in the Team section of Walkie's sidebar, under **From former teammates**, each marked with who recorded it. They are read-only, the team can read them while the owner pays for Team, and only the owner can delete one — which deletes it for the whole team.

## Deleting your Walkie account

Meetings you shared with a team stay with that team, under **From former teammates**, the same as if you had left. Everything else is deleted with the account.

## Frequently asked questions about how to transfer or leave a Walkie team

### Does my teammate need their own Team plan to take over?

No. With **They add their own card**, they pay for the same Team plan when they accept, and nothing is charged until your plan renews. With **Hand over my card and billing**, your plan and its billing become theirs as they are.

### Will the team be paid for twice while it changes hands?

No. When they add their own card, their first charge comes when your plan would have renewed, and your plan stops renewing at that point.

### Can my teammate say no?

Yes. They can decline, and you can cancel the request while it waits. The team stays yours until they accept — and, if they are adding their own card, until they finish on the payment page.

### Why can't I delete a meeting under From former teammates?

Only the team's owner can, because deleting it removes it for everyone on the team. Everyone else can read it but not change it.
