# Asking questions about your meetings

> Use meeting chat to ask questions about one meeting or search across your whole meeting archive.

Open a meeting and use the chat panel to ask questions about it — what was decided, what you agreed to, what a particular person said. You can also ask across every meeting you have recorded, which is how you find a decision when you cannot remember which call it was made on.

## Ask about one meeting

Every meeting has a chat panel. Ask it anything the transcript can answer.

- “What did we decide about the launch date?”
- “What did Sarah commit to?”
- “Summarise the second half — I joined late.”
- “Draft a follow-up email covering the action items.”

Answers cite the speaker, so you can tell who said what rather than getting an unattributed claim.

## Ask across every meeting

Chat can also search your whole archive, which is the useful case when you remember a decision but not which meeting it happened in.

- “When did we last talk about pricing?”
- “What are all my open action items?”
- “Which meetings mentioned the migration?”

## On-device recap

On a Mac with Apple Intelligence, Walkie can generate the meeting recap entirely on-device, so the transcript is never sent anywhere for summarising. It is less capable than the cloud summary but keeps the meeting fully local.

## Reaching meetings from an AI agent

On the Work plan and above, Walkie runs a local MCP server so Claude, Cursor, and other MCP-capable agents can search and read your meeting archive directly, with your permission and without exporting anything. See [The MCP server](/docs/integrations/mcp-server).

## Frequently asked questions about asking questions about your meetings

### Does asking a question send my whole archive to the cloud?

No. Only the relevant passages needed to answer your question are sent, not the entire archive. On a Mac with Apple Intelligence, the recap can be generated fully on-device.

### Can it answer about a meeting it did not record?

No. Chat only knows what is in your Walkie meeting archive.
